Filter for your family. Filter for your home.

We all know how important it is to filter our thoughts before we speak. 

We’ve all had that moment when something slips through that filter and gets us into trouble. Sometimes one sentence can set a family relationship back for months. 

But sometimes we don’t know exactly how much to filter. No one wants to say things that are destructive. At the same time, no one wants to filter out their personality. No one wants to be a robot.

So, where’s the balance?

The best way to explain this is by talking about your AC and furnace. (Trust me, it’ll make sense in a minute).

When you’re having an airflow problem, your filter is usually to blame. And the best way to check your filter is by holding it up to the light.

If you can’t see much light through the filter, then you need to replace it. If you can still see a lot of light through the filter, then you’re good to go.

It’s the same with your family

A good filter for what you say and do (especially with your kids), is to ask yourself if others can see light in what you do. Now I’m not talking about always being positive or never discipling your children. I’m talking about light.

Light can help someone feel safe at night. It can also help you see the path beneath your feet. For light to go through what you do and say, you need to help your children feel safe, and to see things more clearly. 

So the next time your kids get you frustrated, just make sure they feel safe while you help discipline them so that they can see things more clearly.

Brady and LT (and the entire Western Heating & Air Team) have been amazing through a less than ideal scenario. Our outdoor unit with our ductless system was having issues and completely went down on two occasions. Once they figured out the issue, they got a warranty claim in process and quickly got the new unit installed (Brady and LT are true professionals and pros at what they do). Our family feels in good hands with Western Heating and Air, and appreciate all the compassion and hard work to help us through this less than ideal scenario with the problems we had with the outdoor unit.
