Is something wrong with my air ducts?

Is something wrong with my air ducts?

Air ducts are an essential part of your HVAC system. Without them, air couldn’t go from the HVAC unit to the rest of the house! These ducts are vital to the functionality of your system, so when something’s wrong you don’t want to let it go on.

Western has your back! If you’re wondering about your ducts here are 6 warning signs that something might be wrong:

Air Ducts

Noisy HVAC

Your system should operate without too much noise. Noise coming from your vents may be an indicator of too much debris in the ducts or another, larger problem.

Funny smells coming from your vents

Let’s face it. You should NOT have funny smells coming from your ducts. When that furnace kicks on and a mildew smell floats up from your vents you know it’s time to get your ducts looked at.

Your home is extra dusty

Your home is always going to have at least a little dust, both inside and outside, but it shouldn’t be excessive. If you’re finding debris around your vents or you have to constantly wipe dust off your surfaces, you know something isn’t working quite right.

Your energy bills are growing

When too much air escapes from your ducts it causes your system to work harder to keep your home comfortable. You’ll soon start to see this reflected on your energy bills. If you’ve seen a sudden increase in your utility usage that might indicate that your ducts need some work.

Low airflow

Are some of your rooms more comfortable than others? It could be a sign that your ducts are damaged or blocked, causing improper airflow. Proper airflow through your ducts is a vital part of a quality system.

They’re getting old

How long has it been since your ducts were installed? It’s common for any part of your system to become less efficient over time, so if it’s been a while you might need to get them inspected for wear and tear.

Tyler and Carter were efficient, helpful, and courteous. They walked us through our new system and explained everything so we could use and maintain the system after they left. Great experience!

Brady and LT (and the entire Western Heating & Air Team) have been amazing through a less than ideal scenario. Our outdoor unit with our ductless system was having issues and completely went down on two occasions. Once they figured out the issue, they got a warranty claim in process and quickly got the new unit installed (Brady and LT are true professionals and pros at what they do). Our family feels in good hands with Western Heating and Air, and appreciate all the compassion and hard work to help us through this less than ideal scenario with the problems we had with the outdoor unit. THANK YOU!
