Sloppy Technician Work

I like this company but the technician who came to perform the tune-up was very sloppy. He dropped one of the compressor screws into the adjancent window well without telling me, and didn't even try to recover it. Luckily I noticed the missing screw's hole and was able to find the screw and reinstall it myself. He also failed to reapply HVAC tape to the temperature differential holes--so I had to ask him to do so. I hope to have better technicians in the future.

We were very impressed with the service provided by Joe. He quickly located the problem causing a water leak in our furnace/air conditioning unit. He fully explained the problem and then fixed it. But he didn't stop there he also noted another problem we were not aware of and fixed that as well. He arrived on time for his appointment and left us happy with his good work. Ty was here on time and went straight to work checking out our gas furnace for winter operation. He found all was within specs. He set up our humidifier and explained how to set it during different winter conditions. He suggested installation of an electronic air purifier since our hose air is a bit high on pollution. All in all we were very happy with his work. He was quick in finishing the job and left a clean work area.

I've used Western for many many years. I own a duplex in Orem and have used them for service work, they have replaced both of the heaters in them over the years. One in the middle of January --- snowing sideways and very cold. They were on the job the very next morning of me calling for help and had to replace the entire furnace --- worked thru the hole process with out even as much as taking a lunch break. I live in Saratoga and can't be available for service calls of either Heat or AC till 4 pm. They are always sitting at my curb when I arrive. Never once have they called or shown up late. Have seen many tech's over the years, all very professional and competent. Would with out reservation recommend them to anyone.

Cut hole in supply trunk from mechanical room and could not see heat runs, talked with customer about cutting hole in ceiling and putting access panel to cover hole. Cut hole in ceiling to find heat runs were connected. Believe the system was just blowing air past the two runs because fan speed was to high. But fan speed is set to the tonnage of ac and is a variable speed furnace. Installed a turning vain to force air to those two runs. Airflow through the vents is better balanced and customers are happy with results.

Installed 80% furnace added a box under furnace to bring it to height of coil. Ran new flu pipe to furnace from the T connected to water heater. Set gas pressure low to 1.85 and high to 3.4. Installed air scrubber. Customer will be calling in to office to make payment. Added return grill 12x12 in ceiling by the hall because it would not work where the original plan was supposed to put it.

AC tune up refer to health inspection report form. Return and supply side are both higher than normal, main pressure drop is after the filter though. Given the equipment is an ECM motor it has parameters it wants to be able to reach and it doesn’t care about restriction in the ducting because it wants to reach the parameters of airflow it’s programmed to achieve. Given current state ideally we would be using a larger filter to reduce pressure drop and adding a return somewhere in trunk to help static at return fall to a better spot. Filter has some gaps in it allowing bypass, unfiltered, air to make it into blower compartment and through main body of unit. This would be helped with a more capable filter like an Aprilaire filter that seals much better and helps prevent dirty air making into equipment there is a fine layer of dust on the inside. Outdoor unit running well just some mild wear signs on contactor which is fairly normal wear on contactors like this. Recommendations ref

I preformed an ac tune up today. Only thing to report is that the compressor is over amping at start up. I put on a hard start kit to fix this issue. AC was running when i left.

The 2011 day and night furnace not working. 3 amp fuse broke. Transformer broke. Duel contactor tripping to ground. Duel capacitor at 70% drop. Fan on zone control board terminal broke. Regan invited us out today for an AC tune up. While going through the tune up I found that the system isn’t getting quite enough air. I gave an option to put an airbox under the system to help with the airflow. On the outside unit, everything tested just about perfectly beside the capacitor. The compressor side has fallen about 2.5% over the last two years with a maximum 5% loss allowance. I recommend a hard start to take some of the load off and keep the system running well.

AC tune up refer to health inspection report. Overall system performing well given the mild dust and debris noticed in blower motor compartment and secondary heat exchangers would recommend looking at adding an Air Scrubber to the equipment the Air Scrubber helps aid the filters to perform better while mitigating the need for dusting in home. The Air Scrubber is an active air purification device rather than passive and helps keep the air quality in home better than it would otherwise. Outdoor units capacitor is hanging around tolerance threshold of capacity we will want to keep an eye on that as time goes on, or if we would like to be proactive we can replace and even put a hard start to help with the initial amp draw on start up from compressor. Recommendations refer to estimates. Replaced capacitor with new one Western will warranty new capacitor for one year if it were to fail we will come and replace at no charge.

Katherine invited us out today for an AC tune up. The system is going on 20 years and is definitely starting to show its age. Starting inside I noticed that the evap coil has some rust build up, the blower motor is amping high (costing more to run) as well as leaking oil, and the static pressure is a little high putting strain on the components. Moving outside the condenser isn’t in the greatest shape. The capacitor is out of spec which is putting strain on the compressor upon start up. The contactor has begun to rust though still transferring voltage correctly and finally, the fan motor is leaking oil as well. I went over the options with Katherine today and I think it would be best for her to go over all options including looking into a new system.

I performed an AC tune up on two 2016 Goodman systems. Both systems are working properly. The blower wheel is really dirty in both systems, due to the way the filter was installed. Both systems use a 20x20x1 filter, the upstairs one can fit a 20x20x2 for less frequent filter changes and a 20x20x4 could fit downstairs. There are some upgrades that can improve comfort in the home and longevity for the systems I changed the filters I’ll send some estimates with my recommendations.
